Artist's Description

Wisconsin became the first state in the nation to ratify the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution on June 10, 1919. The amendment granted women the right to vote. In 2019, Wisconsin marked the 100th anniversary of ratification. On June 10th, sculptor Jean Pond Miner's "Forward" wore the suffrage sash to mark the milestone.
